Requests for Information: 19 March – 1 April 2012

Received by e-mail, From: Global HRE List Moderator, Date: 05/04/2012

Dear members, Below is a compilation of requests for information sent to the Global Human Rights Education listserv in the past two weeks. At the bottom of each request you will find an e-mail address, so that you can directly respond to the request:

1. SEEKING TRAINING MATERIAL FOR MILITARY AND POLICE:
Dear colleagues, I am directing a new three year project on torture prevention in the Police and Military in Nepal and Sri Lanka. As an initial research task, we are gathering as many training manuals that have been developed to training police and military in the field of human rights in general and torture prevention in particular as possible. I have had a look through HREA’s on line HRE library and have found quite a few, but was wondering if list serve members have suggestions for further material?
Sincerely, Associate Professor Danielle Celermajer, Director, Torture Prevention Project, Room 444, Old Teachers’ College, University of Sydney, NSW, Australia, 2006, E-mail.

2. SEEKING FUNDERS FOR HRE IN SCHOOLS IN UGANDA:
Dear Colleagues, Thanks for the milestone development in Cameroon. Uganda needs the same initiative and there is no NGO which is funded to spear head this kind of break through and government accountable. Please can you send me some websites of funders, charitity organizations, and foundations that can support my organization (Malaria, AIDS and Rights Organization-MATO), which focuses on children in schools and out of school to carry out advocacy and capacity building. I will be gratefull if I get a donor so that I touch the hearts of children and contribute to reduction of human rights violations in schools first.
Kind regards, Emmanuel Kusemererwa, ED MATO, Kampala, Uganda, E-mail.
